Love this story Jack. I’ve laid down some miles in trucks delivering granite slabs for my business. Mostly short haul, but I did have to keep a log. Anyway your descriptions of that process made me smile. Sounds like the gift that young man gave you did what it was supposed to do. Well written story.

Wow. I’ve met people I only spoke to for a few moments but remember now, some fifty years later. I’m sure I would have remembered that young man too. BTW I’ve also been on Lookout Pass. ☺️

When I first started driving over those mountains I didn’t understand what altitude sickness was. Especially going up and down so quickly made me sick to my stomach and unrelenting headaches. Later I figured it out but just had to endure it.

The first time I came to Montana (I grew up by the beach on the West Coast), I got really sick. I didn't know why and my then boyfriend (now husband of over 30 years) saw the signs and told me. I can't remember what we did about it, but I felt terrible.
